Melos sets new standards on the market with its next product upgrade!
Melos GmbH's continuous improvement process ensures that the company can keep pace with current market developments at all times. The high quality of its products proves it right: the company has been setting standards worldwide for decades when it comes to EPDM granules for the sports and leisure sector. In order to continuously develop the product and production processes, the R&D department has been conducting research under unique conditions in the company's own Competence Center since 2018. The modern infrastructure enables the laboratory staff to make the properties of the EPDM granules even more durable and customer-oriented. The premium product combines the result of decades of experience in the research department in close cooperation with customers.
Background to the product upgrade
Whether during the installation of the floor covering or during use by the end customer - the demands placed on EPDM granules in the sports and leisure sector have always been high. Attributes such as durability, color variety, availability, technical advice and sales service have been the focus of interest for decades. Melos thus provides answers to the changing climatic conditions and increasing demands of the market. More heat and UV radiation as well as more intensive use of sports and leisure facilities: Melos has responded to this and is setting new standards on the market with the upgrade of its premium EPDM granules!
What has changed?
The first thing to mention here is the increase in the EPDM content in the granules. The pure EPDM content of the product is now ≥20 % and the selection of this polymer type is ideal for the special end application of sports and leisure surfaces. Overall, the premium quality of the EPDM granules is ensured by the selection of high-quality basic raw materials, increased specification requirements and consistent quality assurance. In the latest product upgrade, the mechanical properties stand out in particular: optimized elongation at break and tensile strength as well as lower abrasion ensure greater stability, fewer cracks or unpleasant edge detachment and, overall, lead to increased durability of the product.
Visually, the “new” granules score points with greater color consistency and a more homogeneous appearance once the floor covering has been installed. In addition, the minimized chalking ensures a reduced whitening effect. The dust content has also been reduced thanks to the changed composition of the product. The new antistatic premium packaging supports this effect.
