The continuous search for advanced materials in cable manufacturing has led Melos to a significant innovation: the halogen-free flame-retardant compound Mecoline S TP 1045 F. This already successfully launched compound is not only characterised by its flame-retardant properties, but also sets new standards in terms of resistance to cracking in changing ambient temperatures.
Mecoline S TP 1045 F has a remarkably high tear propagation resistance, especially at temperatures of up to 60°C. The ability to maintain its structural integrity even at fluctuating temperatures is crucial for the reliable and long-term performance of low and medium voltage cables, especially in demanding industrial and technological applications.
The new formulation of Mecoline S TP 1045 F helps to prevent environmentally induced stress cracking in armoured low and medium voltage power cables, avoiding costly cable damage and power interruptions - a common problem, especially for cables that are installed live or underground.
Thanks to its high tear resistance and elongation at break at temperatures from -45°C to 90°C, Mecoline S TP 1045 F is ideal as a sheath material in armoured cables to prevent environmentally induced stress cracking. The new formulation fulfils all specifications of the BS 7655-6.1:1997 standard, including the most stringent LTS1 classification, even for complex designs and armoured cables.
Melos is taking another innovative step by also offering Mecoline S TP 1045 F in a UV-protected version, extending the compound's application possibilities, especially in environments with intense UV radiation.
The introduction of Mecoline S TP 1045 F underlines Melos' commitment to innovation and high quality products in the cable industry. The unique properties of this compound make it possible to fulfil the highest standards in a reliable and durable way.
