Melos Games - The Big Showdown on the new Meller running track

Old became new, red became blue. More than 25 years after its last renovation, our hometown of Melle (Lower Saxony) has been given a completely refurbished athletics track in accordance with DIN Type D (cast coating) this year. Before the renovation work could begin by our sister company Polytan, the existing red track was cleaned with special equipment and a pore seal was applied to make it waterproof for the new system. The high-quality Rekortan M system in Hertha blue was then installed: an absolutely trendy color worldwide. In order to be able to realize this major project in this special color, Melos provided sponsorship in the form of Premium EPDM Granules. After approximately four weeks of construction, the athletes of SC Melle 03, the local sports club, were able to enter the new facility and start chasing records! The initial response from the athletes has been outstanding!
The official inauguration ceremony for the new running track will take place on August 22, 2025, with the Melos Games at Carl-Starcke-Platz in Melle, in cooperation with the city of Melle and the SC Melle 03 sports club. Employees of Melos, representatives of the city, and track and field athletes from SC Melle 03 will compete against each other in a total of eight different track and field disciplines. To ensure that the competition is as balanced as possible, the athletes will be given different handicaps depending on their discipline.
Tom Bartels, one of Germany's best-known TV presenters, will be hosting the event. The German live voice of the 2014 World Cup final grew up in Melle and has a very special connection to our city and to sport.
Only representatives of the city of Melle, SC Melle 03 or Melos GmbH participate in the Melos Games sporting competition. Everyone is welcome to attend this event as a spectator. The evening will be accompanied by a suitable supporting program for the whole family, including a bungee run, bouncy castle, soccer darts, and much more. Admission is free!
